“No solution in sight for the decline of racetracks' popularity”
Due to the industry of online gambling racetracks in
Massachusetts are losing ground as with other racetracks
throughout the country. The regular land-based racetracks
maintain a steady drop in popularity in the face of increasing
popularity of online casinos. It seems that the racetrack
traditional style has been ousted from the competition
from the aggressive attraction of online gambling. The
attraction created by the promotions and returns awarded
by the majority of Internet casinos only add to their
appeal and inherent online ease.
In their attempt to legalize slot machines at racetracks
localities, lobbyists for Massachusetts are pressing their
rights. By this means the lobbyists are hopeful that it
will award them an advantage at the racetrack. To-date
they have not yet reaped any success, and if they get
their way and slot machines become introduced, it’s
still not for sure that clients would return to the racetrack
localities. It seems that such a basic move could still
not assist the racetrack industry in competing with online
gambling’s comfort, and array of appealing promotions
and rebates.
In a typical fashion, law enforcement officials
do not pursue the single gambler, even though the United
States’ policy states that online gambling is not
legal. The paradox is that the majority of online gamblers
are United States citizens even though online gambling is
against the law. Using the 1960’s Wire Act which outlaws
the use of phone lines for betting, the United States law
enforcers have pursued the casino sites’ operators.
There will be no solution to the problem of Traditional
racetracks’ decline as well as with the similar situation
with brick and mortar casinos as long as the essence of
the Wire Act is in question, and as long as the United States
delays taking a tougher stand against Internet gambling
and actually indict all those connected to the industry
of online gambling.
