“Gambling Superstitions: Guaranteed to Bring You Luck?”
Every sport or activity has
its own associated superstitions. Gambling – and indeed online gambling – is
no exception. Just because you may choose to
gamble over the internet from a completely different
location does not mean you are exempt from the powers
of luck and chance. Many of the gambling superstitions
held by players are deeply ingrained regardless of whether
they play at a real casino or at an online site.
For other players, regular superstitions such as walking
under ladders or breaking mirrors take on an entirely different
perspective while gambling.
One common superstition suggests that in order to avoid
bad luck, a player should rise from his chair and rotate
it three times. This practice can also be used by players
at online casinos, whether they are sitting stationery
or on a swivel chair.
Those people that favor lucky
charms in life are just as likely to use them for gambling
purposes. Whether a lucky pendant, hat or a rabbit’s foot in your pocket
is what brings you luck, there’s no better place
for it than at the gambling table or near to
the computer if you happen to be gambling online.
Another popular superstition
involves the use of salt. Salt is traditionally known
to ward off evil spirits and placing it around objects
or tossing it over one’s
shoulder is thought to cleanse negative influences. Salt
has been found in casinos around slot machines and gaming
tables, proving that this superstition – albeit slightly
messy – is still alive and well.
Lastly, breathing on objects to imbue them with
luck is a popular superstition among gamblers who play dice
games. Thought to originate from the habit of spitting on
objects in order to heighten their performance, breath is
associated with good luck for the casino player and for the
online casino player at home who may choose to blow upon
their computer screen for luck.
