Regulations for Acquiring New Licenses Recently Made Known

Monday, the United Kingdom Gambling Commission announced that it was stating new conditions for the granting of licenses to those who maintain gambling operations and for their staff, along with a set of new codes for good practice.

It was also made known by the Gambling Commission that it was planning to assume new legal powers of a significantly changed amount to be used for monitoring the gaming industry and for prosecuting acts of illegal gambling. From now on the commission plans to also be an adviser to the local and central governments regarding issues relating to gambling.

The United Kingdom’s Gambling Commission was established initially in October of 2005. It is the responsibility of the Commission to control the UK gambling industry in the interest of the public. Gambling industry codes and various communications will be used to summarize these new regulations according to Government regulators.

The Commission’s chairman, Peter Dean, has said that the gambling regulations of Britain are going through a complete reform. He also announced that starting next year in September, it will be required that all operators of gambling institutions receive license from the Gambling Commission".

Dean announced that the Gambling Commission had set codes and conditions by which it intends to establish the sets of rules that operators of gambling institutions are required to maintain if they desire to achieve the commission’s three licensing objectives, one being the restriction of criminal elements from participating in gambling, two being that assurance of gambling activities that are both open and fair, and three being the protection of children and others who are susceptible to negative  gambling habits.

When operators of gambling organizations are found to be failing at the maintenance of the Commission’s standards, it has the power to fine them heavily and without limit until they meet the conditions of their license.
