Europe Online Site Gains In September Over August
The comScore World Metrix audience ratings service which specializes in gauging activity over the Internet, as released through comScore Networks, the most recent statistics regarding Internet activity. Results indicate which are the leading European Internet sites during September, based on the collected data.
Since the reported statistics cover the month of September, they are too early to yet reveal the effects of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act recently passed in the United States. For the category of online gambling there was a general increase in European terrific of 3 percent. The Internet site, 888.com toped the list reporting visits by 6.9 million gamblers. This represents a 9 percent increase above the prior month of August. Party Gaming is ranked in spot number two with 4.1 million visitors. This represents an increase of 16% over the prior month.
As is usually the situation, the leading European sites were reported as being Google, Microsoft and Yahoo. These three sites continued to lead all of the others and continued to rank as the top three Internet sites for European Internet users. Is compared with activity for August however,, they remained rather constant.
Examining the ten uppermost visited European sites, as ranked by online encyclopedia, Wikipedia, the largest gains were during September, with an increase of 18 percent reaching 59.9 million visitors. The site YouTube, that was only just bought by Google as a part of a billion dollar deal, drew in 27.4 million visitors.
