Party CEO Nate Garber Notes That New Anti-Gambling Legislation Does Not Affect State Lotteries, Horseracing, Or Fantasy Sports

PartyGaming CEO Nate Garber was interviewed by Bloomberg News.  The chief executive considered what he calls the implications of the United States ban on Internet gambling.

Garber said that this new development represents an important setback for a PartyGaming and has a negative affect not only on the industry as a whole, but on his company's players and shareholders as well.  He notes however that United States state lotteries, fantasy contests, and horse - race are not banned, as well as certain other online gaming activities, all of which have been exclusively protected by this new law.  Garber says that his company is disappointed that a game like poker, which has the positive elements of both skill and popularity, has not been in particular, protected.

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was an add-on to a totally unrelated piece of legislation regarding U.S. port security, and was unexpectedly passed.  The act throws up a barrier against all finances relating to online gambling that covers the entire United States.  It is designed to stop Americans from gambling online.

In reaction to the events of this weekend, other companies that operate online gambling sites issued their own statements.  Empire Online announced it would immediately begin to review how the new legislation would impact its current business activities.  The statement said that at the current time it is very difficult for the company to determine how the new legislation affects their business, but that they view it as having a significant impact on their future earnings.

Although companies is situated outside the United States have not yet been able to come up with definite decisions, some of major Israeli-owned companies that deal with online poker, have said that they are considering suspending all activities with the United States market.  This is reported by officials representing PokerStars.

The CEO of Bodog.com whose name is Calvin Ayre, has made known a statement to Gambling 911.com, and this was done late Sunday night, in which he has stated that Bodog is a digital entertainment company that is broad based, and that long ago stop being dependent on any one particular source of revenue or revenue channel.  He says that Bodog will go on monitoring things as they continue to unfold but that the company is not expected to make any major changes until they've completed their study.
