In London, From All Over The World, 70 Top Poker Players Battled It Out For A $200 Thousand Dollar Grand Prize Of Poker
At the Poker Den in the City of London this week, there was a crowning of the new and current queen of Party Poker.com World Open II championships.
The new queen is the UK mother with two children. Her name is Pippa Flanders. She beat down the starting field of 70 top players, including herself and one other player who was also a woman. To compete the players traveled from various parts of the world in order to try their luck at the $200,000 grand award for this event. After it was all over however, it was Flanders who was the winner, when she took home the massive paycheck. This was a very notable achievement. Especially when you consider the fact, that Flanders had only started playing poker professionally about four years ago.
She had to compete with some of the top professionals in the poker world today. These included people such as Tony Guoga, Tony Bloom, Harry Demetriou, Kenna James, and Roland Develop Wolfe, not to mention last year's winner Lee Nelson, all of whom were competing with her for the winning prize.
Flanders when asked, was said to be very happy about her win. She pointed out that to be only one of two women competing among 70 entrants, was quite something. She also noted that it was quite something to win out under these unbelievable conditions, leaving her with a wonderful feeling. Flanders said that she had a magnificent time playing the game and that she really loved the fantastic ending that she had always hoped for. She said she never expected to win. She said that she could not believe that she was able to beat all of these leading names for the grand prize. It was a dream come true.
A Party Poker.com spokesperson explained that this was an absolutely amazing finish that she described as making for a great World Open. The Party Poker.com spokesperson said that it was very exciting that Pippa won, and she described her win as being a tremendous breakthrough for European women in poker, showing that women champions were rising to the top in all parts of the world by playing in these open poker tournaments.
Party Poker.com has announced that their World Open II tournament is to be televised in its entirety later this year over a 16 week period . They can be seen on Channel 5 in the United Kingdom.
