West Virginia Gambling Tax revenues down even with new gambling laws
With the closing of the fiscal year, the figures are disclosed and to everyone's surprise showed a $67 million decrease in tax revenues on gambling! Partly this could be the effect of the recent economical problems, but it is also safe to assume that completion from the surrounding states, is making a bigger dent in the revenues than expected. With Pennsylvania, Nevada and Ohio all in the game for the grace of the gambler, by expanding their gambling industry, and changing their gambling laws to do it, competition is harder than ever before among all US states, who are looking for ways to fill their budgetary gaps.
In total West Virginia made $656 million on gambling taxes, but due to the growing competition, another decrease of these figures is expected for the next year.
With more States joining in on the pro gambling train, competition is expected to become cut-throat and at this point it is impossible to say which states will come out on top.
