The First Party Poker Women's World Open Championship Comes To A Close In London

Following a difficult competition in London this week, and a strained heads up with the runner-up Jen Mason comedian and poker player Norman Pace’s wife, Beverley won $50,000 along with the title of first Party Poker Women's World Open Champion. Following several attempts, Pace's pocket sixes provide to be superior to Mason's Ace Jack off suit.

Mason is a formidable opponent with an outstanding record of several recent wins causing Pace note that she was pleased to beat her.
Pace made it clear that she has much respect for Mason whom Pace said had taught her a great deal on the circuit maybe leading to her ability to beat her having as he put it, picked up a lot about how she plays!

Expressing her great happiness, Pace said that noting this to be her first big win, she intends to allow herself a bankroll for playing tournaments and at higher stakes in the future. She mentioned that she had finished in sixth place in the Ladies European Championship in April and then went on to the WSOP and Aussie Millions but didn't really make that much money.

After facing Pace in the heads up finish, Mason picked up the second place prize of $22,000. This was after she survived her match with Pace. Other members of the final table included Jackie Vaswani, Kara Scott, Bronwyn Campbell, and Maria Demetriou.

A $3,000 buy in was required to play in the match which featured many of today’s leading poker players internationally, people such as former PartyPoker World Open winner Pippa Flanders, Liz Lieu, Jennifer Tilly, European Ladies champion Jackie Meecham, Shannon Elizabeth, Katharine Hartree, Xuyen Pham, and Lucy Rokach.

Bev Pace has been the wife of comedian Norman Pace for 30 years. The couple is much recognized and known to be popular on the UK circuit. Bev has been playing poker part time now for four and a half years in addition to using her spare time to chair the Meningitis Research Foundation charity.

Bev believes that women's tournaments are good because they are a vehicle for drawing other women into the game. Noting that the game standards are comparable to those of a mixed gender game, they still have the effect of encouraging women to come forward that otherwise might not.
