Executives at Neteller are denying blocking of payments
In a private interview with TheOnlineWire.com, this week, Neteller’s Vice President completely denied that his eProcessing company is blocking the transfer of funds to its customers by BetonSports.
After the United States Department of Justice brought a restraining order through a federal court, against BetonSports, the besieged online gambling group has been forced to exclude all US players from its site, an action that has removed approximately 80 percent of its business from off of its accounts. According to the same order, the group is required to pay players their deposits back. A company spokesman announced that the company is not able to conform to this demand since it has suspended its contracts with Neteller, the e-cash processing outfits and others like it.
Amidst a flurry of charges and denials with respect to payouts to United States players as required by the US federal court, BetonSports prospects continue to drop.
Andrew Gilchrist, Neteller’s Vice President of Corporate Development and Communications, told the media that Neteller was not holding back any funds belonging to BetonSports.com nor had it frozen any of that company’s reserves.
Gilchrist explained to TheOnlineWire that Neteller had placed a stop on all transfers of funds to BetonSports.com resulting from the indictments by the US Department of Justice against certain related individuals and companies, but that it has allowed all transfers from the company so as to permit the closing out of member account deposits. He added that transfers being made into and from Easybets.com Asian-facing wallet were not affected at all.
The London newspaper The Observer had earlier reported that unhappy BetonSports investors were considering to take legal action against the sportsbook Internet site due to its having been targeted in the United States move against online gambling. Legal action is being contemplated against Baker Tilly and Evolution Securities, BetonSports financial advisors. Their chief complaint is that they were not given more information regarding company founder Gary Kaplan when the company floated its shares two years ago.
Reports in Gambling911 that advertisers are being told to refund moneys back to BetonSports through an inactive company said to be former BetonSports CEO David Carruthers, has only made the discontent being expressed by players and investors alike even greater. Carruthers has only recently been released on bail and is required to stay within a Department of Justice approved St. Louis, Missouri hotel pending the resolution of charges that have been brought against him by the U.S. government in a 22 count grand jury indictment.
It was reported by Gambling911 reports that an investigation carried out by TheOnlineWire.com, the online gaming publication, revealed that advertising venues were being requested to transfer their refund credits due to BetonSports to World Answer LTFD, which Carruthers operates.
In its effort to recover funds that have been lost through this debacle, both The Online Wire and Gambling911 are looking for legal representation for BetonSports customers and shareholders.
Without giving unhappy players and disgruntled investor their new numbers to call or new address, reports have appeared that all telephone number relating to BetonSports have been cut off. It is expected that new numbers will not be located in Costa Rica where the company has traditionally operated but in the UK where the company directors are living.
Until the recent closing of phone lines, company employees were receiving calls, verifying player account balances and providing expected days of payment, usually ranging from 30 to 90 days.
Gambling911 also reports that an unnamed BetonSports company executive has offered to give customers inside information on what is going on within the company, for a price.
