Party Gaming's Pending US talks Leading to Increased Levels of Speculation

UK business circles have been experiencing increased levels of variegated forms of speculation and all this after it was made known by the online gambling group Party Gaming which is based in London, last week, that it had become involved in pending discussions with the United States legal authorities regarding the legality of its position in the United States of America.

When the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act went into effect last October, Party Gaming removed itself from the United States online Internet gaming market. In doing so it forewent a major portion of its online gambling revenues. It is being reported now and during the last month that the company has been examining its legal position vis a vis its United States operations before the passage of the UIGEA, the law that now makes online financial transactions relating to online gambling illegal.

It has been suggested by known business analysts that in the event that Pary Gaming is able to free itself from any illegalities that may have occurred before the passage of the UIGEA, it would then make itself very desirable in regard to mergers and acquisitions in the eyes of several outstanding American gambling concerns who wish to become a part of the burgeoning online gambling industry. A very good example of this speculation is what was heard from this week's buy note from Deutsche Bank. the bank indicated that Party Gaming now served as an organization that could be easily added on to an already ongoing operation due to the current selling price of its shares, all this being concomitant on its receiving a clean slate from the US Department of Justice. Examples of groups that might benefit in such a merger and which would be interested are such US gambling group giants as MGM or the Las Vegas Sands, or even such Internet leaders as Yahoo and Google that are not involved in gambling. Several industry observers have indicated that they think that these organizations might also consider purchasing or merging with Party Gaming.
