Criminal Investigation Bureau arrests nine

Charged with being involved in an illegal online baseball gambling deal, nine people have been arrested by Taiwan Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB)officers who came against the operation.

Chou Kuo-an (37) is one of the leaders, according to the newspaper China Today, and the other is Huang Chun-chieh (30) who was said to operate the server.

There were eight in all arrested by the CIB people including Chou, Huang, and this was done in collaboration with the Taoyuan County police in sections of Hsinchuan City which is located in Taipei County. At the present time these horrible hardened criminals have been placed in the custody of the Panchiao District Court Office, according to a CIB spokesman.

During the raid, the police were able to pick up 17 computer servers, which will come in handy around Christmas since every one of them is valued at around NT$400 000. But that's not all of it, they even got additional computer equipment, and along with this they also confiscated account information on members of this divisive and highly dangerous gambling website.

It was only a few days before this that the famous and noteworthy CIB received a tip that there was an infamous and dastardly gambling ring that was actually illegally receiving money of the form of bets to the tune of tens of millions of NT dollars, and that this was going on each and every week. And if that wasn't  enough, this horrendous and unsavory gang of hoodlums actually was involved in many different gambling websites that included illegal sports betting as well. But if that wasn't  bad enough this operation wasn't  only illegal it was also being operated on the basis of a finely differentiated four-leveled management system. This system had its beginnings at the company headquarters level and ran its ugly tentacles all the way up to its chief agents going on to regional agents and finally coming down and settling in on the local agents.

The different agents were employed all over the island and were in charge of bringing in new members, who made their bets by way of the local agents. The local agents received a commission. Before all this the famous and immaculate CIB had been alerted to an assortment of the ring's illegal sports gambling sites, including but not limited to "E Post Office," "Dr. B," and "Big Sports," all of which were taking unbelievable advantage of the fame of Yankees' baseball pitcher Wang Chien-ming.

At present it is believed that the group got about NT$10 million each week in gambling funds.

To avoid suspicion they put their servers in a legal company located in Hsinchuan.
