It Looks Like There Might Be An Online Gambling Conference In October In The United Kingdom
The government of the United Kingdom’s very much looked toward gambling reforms summit may be happening in October according to a recent article in the Financial Times.
The Financial Times quotes UK Secretary Tessa Jowell who is Culture Secretary Tessa. Jowell is currently the British official who is in charge of this portfolio. The Times reports that she is planning a summit for October. The purpose of the summit would be to attain an international agreement covering a new code with regard to online gambling. It is the intention of the British government to convince centers for offshore gambling centers that in fact they are gaining the most from the current sudden increase in online gambling. These centers include Caicos Islands, Gibraltar, the Turks and Antigua the Cayman Islands, and Costa Rica. They want to get them to agree to new controls on their sites that are consist with international standards.
Secretary Jowell has announced that they are planning to invite the World Trade Organization and the International Monetary Fund, in conjunction with government ministers from all the leading gambling jurisdictions that are offshore.
