Christian Hellmers, Betfair’s director of business development, is reported as saying that by 2008, his online gambling group could make available as much as $50 million in revenue for the US in new shared revenues for itself, racetracks and horsemen if it is allowed to function in the country.

Hellmers explained that his gambling group could without doubt increase the present $134 million annual wagering market in the US, while gross revenue could be expected to hit as high as $30 million by 2007 and by 2008, $50 million.
