Hungary's State Gambling Company Making Plans To Increase Online Interests
It appears that Szerencsejáték, the Hungarian state gaming company may not be that crazy about foreign competition with regard to the Internet, but it seems that it is no problem for the company to expand its own operations that it now has online.
Gábor Székely, the company’s CEO has made known its public tender for the purchase of additional information technology equipment to more easily make possible expansion of that company's online gambling services. But as the result of a number of lengthy legal procedures, this introduction of several of the games may take 18 months, according to him.
There are several games, and this includes lotteries, are being barred to residents living outside the country, since they lack a registered address or a Hungarian bank account.
The European Commission, at the end of last year, asked that Hungary make available its sports betting market to other member states of the European Community in accordance with the Commission’s principle of the unfettered movement of goods and services. Last year Hungarian sports fans were reported as gambling online approximately Ft 15 billion.
