Swedish Government To Be Involved In Online Poker Gambling
A deal has come to fruition this week that was reported by us earlier this year. The deal is between the Swedish Games Corp. and Boss Media, the online poker and casino gambling software developer. It will take place with the forthcoming commencement of the initial government-owned online poker room website. Boss Media developed the poker website which is to be launched on March 30th. It is widely expected that additional government gaming companies will follow in the footsteps of Svenska Spel in the wake of this successful project. It is also expected that their own poker sites will be launched in the not too distant future. There are approximately 140 World Lottery Association (WLA) government-owned licensed gaming companies all together, and among WLA operators in online gaming, Svenska Spel is a pioneer. President of Boss Media, Johan Berg, says that there are more companies about to get going, and that they are well aware of the role of Boss Media in the development of this government backed poker site. He notes how important it is that the system supplier is the right one for the job. Svenska Spel received approval from the government to be the first Swedish gaming company in November 2005 and preparatory work was undertaken at full speed to create a world-class poker site in terms of entertainment and gaming responsibility. Johan Berg continued: "Responsible gaming is a critical factor for the government-owned licensed gaming companies. Our solution is clearly more advanced that what is available on the market today because it creates greater security for the end-users as well as for the gaming company since they gain increased control of the gaming operations."
