Macau becomes the focus of the online gambling industry
In Macau, this coming February 24 to February 26, 2009, the seventh Annual Asian i–Gaming Congress and Expo is planned to be inaugurated. The first settlement of Europeans in the Far East was Macau. In 1987, China and Portugal signed an agreement, enabling Macau in December 1999 to evolve into an SAR, a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. Apart from affairs pertaining to overseas and defense, Macau maintains almost complete autonomy in all things. In 2001, following its exposure of its domestic controlled casino sphere to competition from overseas, the country was a magnet to scores of billions of dollars invested by foreigners which assisted in turning it into the biggest gaming hub in the globe. Macau succeeded in surpassing Las Vegas strip’s income in 2006.
It seems possible that the success of five hundred attendees at the AiG is going to be repeated and re-echo the preceding year’s enormous triumph. With vast numbers of representatives from the American continent and Europe seeking ventures in the area, the superb Venetian-Macao-Resort hotel is once again hosting the event. A huge number of attendees from Asia will also be included, underpinning that the region is establishing itself again in the online gambling sphere.
Traveling to and from Macau is rapid and not difficult thanks to a superb infrastructure. The three day event may be too short to absorb all the up to date technology and state of the art features. This years expo promises to turn the AiG into an extraordinary flood of meetings and online gambling related expos due to the presence of the main players in the internet gambling industry.
Spin3’s CEO Matti Zinder, and PhilWeb’s President Dennis Valdes, are just several of the names on the packed and outstanding list of promised speakers at the expo. That the online gambling industry is encroaching enthusiastically into the Asian market is manifested by the fact that AiG expo is already a sellout.
